Kolorz
Native Mac color picker — pick from anywhere, copy HEX, RGB, and HSL, with a global shortcut and recent color history.
About
Kolorz is the simplest way to pick a color on macOS and copy it in the format you actually need. It uses Apple's built-in color picker — the same one you already know from Pages, Keynote, and Preview — and adds the things it has always been missing: every color value ready to copy, a global eyedropper shortcut, recent color history, and launch at login. Kolorz is pure SwiftUI and AppKit, runs fully sandboxed on Mac, and does not collect any data. Your colors never leave your Mac.
Quick Start
- Open — Launch Kolorz from the Dock, or press ⌥⌘C from any app.
- Pick — Press ⌥⌘C or click Pick Color, sample a pixel, and the color panel opens with your pick (or use the system picker above).
- Copy — Tap the color square for HEX, or use the copy button on any row.
- Reuse — Click a Recent swatch to recall it, or drag colors into Swatches or other apps.
The global shortcut works whenever Kolorz is running. Enable Launch at login in Settings to keep it available.
Features
- Output Formats — Copy as HEX (
#FF6B35), RGB (rgb(255, 107, 53)), or HSL (hsl(16, 100%, 60%))
- Menus & Shortcuts — Open the color panel from the Dock. Use the Color menu for pick, copy, and recent colors; Kolorz menu for Settings. ⌥⌘C works globally from any app while Kolorz is running.
- Pick from Anywhere — Press ⌥⌘C from any app to launch the eyedropper (customizable in Settings); click any pixel on screen with the system magnifier loupe; the color panel opens with your pick. Use the color wheel, sliders, palettes, and image samplers in the panel.
- Recent Colors — Every sampled color is saved to a persistent history of your last 24 colors; click any swatch to recall it, or drag recent colors into the color panel’s swatch grid. Use Clear in the panel or Color › Clear Recent Colors to reset the list.
- Copy — Tap the color preview for HEX, click the copy icon on any row, or drag colors into Sketch, Figma, Xcode, or any app that accepts color drops
- Paste to Convert — Paste any color value into any row and press Return to parse it, apply it to the picker, and update every other format; accepts legacy and modern CSS syntax for HEX, RGB, and HSL with round-trip accuracy
- Settings — Keep the color panel floating above every other app, start Kolorz at login, and remap the global eyedropper shortcut to any key combination you prefer. Click the shortcut field in Settings to change it; use Reset to restore ⌥⌘C.
- Keyboard Shortcuts — ⌥⌘C Pick Color (global, customizable), ⌘1 Copy HEX, ⌘2 Copy RGB, ⌘3 Copy HSL
- System Swatches — Drag colors into the swatch grid below the panel to save them. macOS manages that grid; drag a swatch into the trash to remove one.
